A Transcendental Meditation Mantras List That You Can Use Now

One of the key aspects of Transcendental Meditation is the mantra given by the teacher to the student. This mantra is a word or phrase which will be continuously repeated in order to create the meditative state where the student is able to transcend the limitations of the mind.

Mantras In Transcendental Meditation

In Transcendental Meditation the mantra given to the student will vary according to a number of different factors. Included among these are the year in which the student was born and in some cases their gender. The year in which the teacher was trained will also affect the mantra provided. The teacher will have been given a list of mantas to use and this list varies depending on which year they received their instruction.

Selecting The Right Mantra For You

Below you will find a list of over 50 mantras that you can use in your Transcendental Meditation practice. As you will see you have a range of mantras that you can choose from according to your age and gender. When selecting a mantra you should select one which is easy for you to use and remember. The mantra should resonate with you and create the sensations and state that you desire. Finally the mantra should feel effortless to repeat so that you can lose your sense of self in its repetition.

 How Mantras Work

While transcendental meditation is a spriritual practice the science of how mantras work is actually well known to us. Firstly mantras provide a point of focus. By having a word or phrase that we can center our attention on we are able to free ourselves from the constant internal chatter that is going on in our mind.

Mantras also have different vibrational qualities. This is why a unique mantra is selected for each student. By intoning a specific sound we can create that same vibrational quality in our body. For example the vibrational quality produced by the words “love” and “hate” are very different. If you speak these two words to yourself you will be able to feel the difference in the internal sensation that they create. Using specific mantra’s we produce the positive energy that we desire.

Try one of these for today only. Then try another aiming for relaxation, mind-body focus, and cosmic consciousness. Deep inside is a vast reservoir if universal knowledge. See which one gets you where you want to go faster.

I did TM daily for 20 years (and taught it) then joined another Guru in India who came from the same vedic lineage, and have been doing a different, but similar mantra practice for the last 21 years. I have also done many other meditation techniques using the breath and mindfulness. I still have great respect for TM as it comes from a true vedic tradition of Masters. The instruction on this site of continuously repeating the mantra is incorrect. Proper practice is easy but delicate and needs experienced guidance. The mantra initiation is also a verbal tradition worth respecting. The owner of this site has no respect for the ancient tradition of mantra meditation and does a disservice to uninformed seekers. Taking a mantra from a book is not effective, in fact if you do not receive the mantra properly you would be better off doing another technique without a mantra. There are many ways to meditate with or without mantras but the mantra, when received properly from a Master or his trained teacher adds value to the practice by helping release more impressions (samskaras) from the system. Why look for cheap shortcuts from unqualified people when we are so lucky to have easy access to qualified teachers connected with the ancient traditions. I speak from 41 years of daily meditation experience and wisdom from many sources throughout India.

I was given my mantra over twenty years ago. It appears to be for a female, though I am a male. I am comfortable with it. Can I keep it for life?

    • http://selfhelprobot.com/ Self Help Robot

If you are comfortable with it by all means.

  • Shlomo

this list can never be accurate because it is just an approximation of sanskrit sounds. you can’t learn TM properly this way, get a qualified human teacher and stop selling yourself short. if you want to learn from a proper teacher go to TM.org

Transcendental Meditation is pure evil. If you want a mantra, first of all, don’t pay for it, and second of all, choose the one that’s superior to the rest of them…the maha Mantra. HARE KRISHNA HARE KRISHNA KRISHNA KRISHNA HARE HARE HARE RAMA HARE RAMA RAMA RAMA HARE HARE

  • ajmagic

Hi Help Robot, by picking an appropriate Mantra from the list and following the video I would not need to sign up for a TM course in order to get the technique right? I was just about to sign up then came across this web page!

    • http://selfhelprobot.com/ Self Help Robot

Hi ajmagic, the video we created will help you get a great idea of how to do Mantra type meditation practice at home. I do however highly recommend that you take the Tm course, as i think one on one guidance would be great for your practice. Thanks for commenting, hope this helps.
